1. Mobile Phones
These were what they were called when they first launched. In actuality, the word ‘mobile’ is used in UK while in US these phones are referred to as cell phones since they work on a cellular network technology. In all, the idea was for you to make or receive calls over satellite transmissions or radio waves while on the move. You could even text and receive texts. The Short Message Service (SMS) even advanced to a Multimedia Message Service (MMS), and it was a long time before manufacturers added Internet capabilities on these phones for a user to check emails, browse the web etc.
