Poor attitudes and negativity in the workplace thumb

We all want workplace teams that work together efficiently and effectively, that pursue creative solutions and develop a positive approach. But the reality is sometimes different. Poor attitudes can drag down any number of things in the workplace, from leadership to job performance and turnover. And poor behavior is pervasive in the workplace: Most of us have seen it or dealt with it—and it’s impacting us.

Negative behavior can take on a variety of forms—some of them amazingly immature. They include throwing tantrum, playing pranks, or even the refusal to share resources. And while negativity impacts other employees and the workplace as a whole, it also profoundly impacts a particular employee’s chances for promotion.

There are a number of ways for teammates and management to counter employee negativity. But some of the burden for improving workplace attitude falls on the worker, too. Those solutions can be as simple as sprucing up a workplace.
