Let’s face it – everything comes at a price. There’s price for good careers as well. Unless you live in a Metro city of India, chances are quite high that you’ll have to do home relocation for improving your professional life. And even if you live in a metro, you may still have to shift your base from one place to another under certain circumstances i.e. transfer, education and so on. But that’s not the main problem – the main problem lies in the painful process of household shifting. The pains associated with it are well known. However, they can be minimized with proper planning. Given below are my 3 tips that can make your household shifting easier:
Do your Homework: Figure out everything about your new city in advance. Residential facilities, shopping centres, educational institutions, medical facilities, transport facilities and their pricing are some of the most basic infrastructural things about a city that should be figured out before home relocation. Similarly, power supply, gas supply and water supply are the basic amenities that we need to support our lives. They should also be available without much trouble.
Plan in Advance: There’re two types of people in this world: those who plan and those who don’t. Now please, for your own sake, don’t be the later. If you plan your household shifting in advance then it’ll save you from last minute chaos. Figure out everything that you need to do. From transferring important services to enlisting the help of moving company to selling old stuff, make a list of everything that you need to do and prioritize it. That’ll be enough for your home shifting. Were you expecting more? Sorry for the disappointment.
Execute in Advance: Just planning isn’t enough. It’s great to have a plan, but action is more important. You need to execute it as well because without execution in a timely manner plans can be of little help themselves. Don’t leave your to-do list for your home shifting day. Just get to work and start ticking things off your list. Your goal should be to finish every task as soon as possible and stay away from them on the day of moving because that day you’ll have a lot on your plate to take care of.
Toss unnecessary stuff: We make our home shifting process unnecessarily complicated by being nostalgic towards unnecessary stuff. Save yourself the trouble and sell (or toss) everything that you’ve not been using for more than 3 years. If you didn’t need it in last 3 years, chances are quite high that you don’t need it anytime soon.
Following this 4-step plan will make home relocation a lot easier for most people. Some of this advice may be tough for you to execute at first, but if you pull these steps off then I’m quite sure that you can move to pretty much any city in India without much trouble. It’s my simple, no-nonsense approach towards household shifting, and it has never left me in trouble. You too can expect the same from it.
