Shifting your home or office is a daunting task for sure. With so many things to move from one place to another, you will need good packaging materials so that the items do not get damaged or destroyed in transit. There are wide varieties of packaging materials available in the market now. Among them bubble wraps are quite popular. Fragile items are usually packed in these wraps so that no damage is inflicted to them.

Brief Introduction On Bubble Wraps

Invented accidentally by Marc Chavannes and Alfred Fielding way back in 1957, today bubble wraps are among the most commonly used packaging materials. The main component of the bubble wraps is polyethylene resin. Air bubbles are created in between two plastic sheets in an evenly distributed manner. This helps in absorbing any kind of pressure or stress that comes on the sheet and does not let the pressure get transferred to the item that is wrapped with the bubble wrap. The sizes of the bubbles vary from one sheet to another. While some of the bubble warps have small bubbles, some of the wraps have larger bubbles on them.

Benefits Of Using Bubble Wraps For Packaging

It is quite natural that bubble wraps offer great benefits in the packaging industry. This is one of the reasons that they are so very popular. Some of the benefits of using bubble wraps are as follows:

Transparent/translucent – Packaging materials like cardboard boxes or cardboard sheets are opaque and nothing can be seen inside the packaging. But, bubble wraps are transparent or translucent and the item that is packed inside can be seen. If an item is very fragile and you need to keep a check on the same from time to time, using bubble wrap is a great option.

Extremely light in weight – Bubble wraps are very light in weight. As a result, when used in packing goods that will be shipped or sent over cargo in flights, the freight charges are extremely low and sometimes zero. This means lots of saving on transportation costs.

Less packaging material is required – Using bubble wraps for packaging means that you will need to use lesser packaging materials. This is because this material provides optimum levels of protection to fragile items. Overall packaging costs are also reduced with bubble wraps.

Moisture resistant – Bubble wraps are moisture resistant in nature. They do not allow any kind of moisture to seep inside the packaged item and keep them in good condition even when it is raining or snowing outside.

Protects against abrasion – While moving, packing and transportation, rough handling of goods is nothing uncommon. This might lead to development of scratches on the items. But with protection from bubble wraps, there are no scopes of any abrasions or unwanted scratches, dents and marks.

Strong and elastic – Bubble wraps are elastic in nature and very strong at the same time. They have the capability of enduring tough pressure on them without harming the packed item. When an external force comes on the packed item, the bubbles distribute the pressure evenly.

Along with so many benefits, bubble wraps are great fun items as well. You can see kids and adults sitting and bursting the bubbles from the wraps once their purpose is solved. This has proved to be a stress buster for many as well.
