Recently, I got a new phone. Well, not that my old phone needed a replacement but I guess it was time to upgrade the hardware. Remember when we used to own a phone for more than 2 years. Well, many of us till do probably but its increasingly uncommon. Repeat sales in devices and gadgets depends on the user discarding the older one faster. This is practically why e-commerce sites are bombarding you with offers on electronic gadgets. I don’t deny that I belong to the demography they are targeting and so I can tell you how usual it is to have a perfectly working gadget that you don’t want anymore. So, where are all the rejected smartphones going? Well, largely to toxic waste dumps under the oceans. However, there is a better place too. Recycling of electronic devices has evolved and today dedicated services are helping reduce waste and save energy on recycling gadgets like phones, tablets and laptops.
