The Green Card Lottery – What You Need to Know [Infographic]

Every year, 55,000 United States permanent resident visas are given away. This infographic from Hansen & Company takes you through the process of applying and what to do if you’re lucky enough to win a green  card.

There are certain criteria to keep in mind before you even apply. For example, you need have completed a high school education or equivalent and must have worked for at least 2 of the last 5 years.

The majority of visas go to people from countries that are underrepresented with 48% going to African countries. Interestingly, some countries are exempt from applying at the moment including the United Kingdom and Canada. Of the approximate 9.1 million people who apply less than 1% receive a diversity visa.

Be careful not to fall prey to the diversity visa  scammers. They might try to charge you money to apply or promise to increase your chances of being picked. Find out everything you need to know in the infographic.
