history of plastic thumbnail

Today, we have become so accustomed to plastic that we take it for granted and hardly any one of us would wonder what life would be without it. We use it so extensively in our day-to-day lives, yet we hardly ever notice it. It is easy to get used to the comforts and forget what your life was before you had them. Plastic has eased our burden in so many different areas – we use it in electronics, cars, household appliances, toys – just look around you and I am sure that with just one glance, you will see it in at least five different items in your household. Furthermore, it has many applications in various industries, too.

Life must have been a lot harder before plastic was invented. And even after it was first invented, this material has undergone extensive development to get to the current state that we are witnessing today. There have been some clever innovations in the field, but all those have not happened overnight. Plastic has travelled over 150 years from its invention to its current state of omnipresence and vast diversity. Here are a few of the more important moments in its history that certainly deserve a mention.
