Hello Everyone,
I’ve been meaning to write a book since 2011. The new decade began with great enthusiasm. New social platforms were being launched and visual content was becoming the buzzword. The whole gamification thing was emerging on the foreground and we were getting introduced to wonderful new technologies like 3D printing and big data. Needless to say I was very excited. Then came 2013. The world was exposed to new realities about technology. Paranoid governments, technology addiction, corporate greed and intrusion of private lives by tech brands become evident.
In early 2013 I founded TLB with my friends and we wanted to start a movement. We wanted to empower the local businesses to become brands of their own. This was and will remain the purpose of TLB. Consuming locally produced goods reduces economic stress and brings sustainability. Many communities around the world have embraced local produce and are flourishing. However, human productivity is being threatened by so many other things. Technology addiction is one of them.
In the fall of 2014 I started working on this book simply for the purpose of documenting the chaotic developments of this decade. Soon it seemed that merely connecting the dots is not enough and what resulted was an almost philosophical text about our times. I don’t mean to scare anyone with this effort because its not my purpose to oppose technology. We have to accept its role in the future of society but the question is how? For instance, wearable technology is going to be very common but how will we let it work for us and not let it control us? What should be the bio ethical guidelines for those who are developing wearable technology? We have only begun to think about these things but we must encourage debate over such matters. That is the purpose of my book. I know this is as boring as it gets. Yawn!
Still, do read it and let me know what you think of it. It has a collection of my essays on topics like social media, branding, gamification, instruction design, propaganda, wearable technology, big data and many more such things that are a part of our life today. I have planned it as a 2 part series but the publication of the second part will depend on the success of the first volume. This is why I need your support. You can visit the website www.thesocialtestament.com and leave your feedback there, join the forums and start a discussion on technology, society or economy(even more boring stuff). All I want to request at the end is that please buy my book and read it. It’s actually quite cheap. 🙂
