The all-new 2016 Kenworth T800 is being billed as the “ultimate workhorse” with the versatility and strength required to tackle whatever jobs your business can throw at it. In this case, it has earned the title. The 2016 T800 can be ordered in a number of different configurations to suit almost any on road or off road application. Kenworth describes the retooled T800 as “built to take it tough”, and this big rig is the embodiment of Kenworth’s record for retaining value while taking punishment.
In order to contend with heavy duty applications, the truck is equipped with record strong PACCAR engines, and its radiator is generously proportioned at 1,440 – 1,780 square inches. Engines are capable of being mated via automated transmissions, which are then combined with either front or rear engine PTOs. Thanks to its rock solid construction, the front axles are capable of handling up to 22,000 pounds, and the optional twin steer front axles can more than capably handle up to 37,500 pounds.
In order to broaden its versatility, this model can be equipped with pusher axles and tags, front drive axles, and single, tandem, or tridem drives. The 2016 Kenworth T800 features a 48.5” set back front axle that enables its operator to transfer the majority of its weight towards the front end, which enhances the truck’s payload. Due to its superior steering geometry, the T800 boasts a generous wheel cut that allows the driver to maneuver it without much difficulty. Despite the light nature of the power steering, it is nicely weighted and provides a good response.
The exterior of the 2016 Kenworth T800 features an aerodynamic design that is bolstered by its traditional cab configuration. With its tall stance and oversized grille, it creates an imposing appearance that is enhanced by the addition of twin polished vertical exhaust stacks, which are mounted towards the rear of the cab. The massive windshield offers straightforward, unobstructed visibility, and the cab’s front bumper is crafted from high strength steel and outfitted with a centered front two hitch.
When compared to its competitors, the cab of the 2016 Kenworth T800 boasts plenty of head, leg, and stomach room to make yourself comfortable in. Its multifunctional, four spoke steering wheel offers a decent grab and is fitted with telescoping and tilt functions that will make it simple to find the proper driving position. The cabin offers a plethora of storage places too, including simple to use consoles, cup holders, and boxes.
With the exception of a few minor hiccups, the 2016 Kenworth T800 offers a powerful and capable ride. Its workhorse tendencies are bolstered by the addition of the powerful PACCAR engines and the sturdy chassis, while numerous axle configurations and heavy duty suspensions enable it to tackle the hardest jobs with surprising ease.
