An Open Letter To Investors

Dear all,

Its been a while that we posted any platform updates. This year marks the formal completion of our 5th year as a news blog site for SMEs and local businesses. We’re happy and proud to have served thousands of readers, contributors and business listing owners who’ve become a part of our platform. It is worth mentioning that TheLocalBrand.com has grown entirely organically over the past few years and all because of our ardent and vocal community who find our platform useful for sharing their thoughts. We’ll undoubtedly continue facilitating that in future as well. Being said that, we are also faced with a decision at this point. On one hand, we see that The Local Brand® is growing on its own impetus. On the other hand we find it difficult to accommodate higher volume of activity on the website. One reason being that we are really short-staffed. We want to expand our team but we have no revenue stream as of now to support a larger infrastructure.

Although we are just happy running it with our own efforts and time, there are some things that we would like to do better. Like, having a full time social media team that will handle all the online conversations both on our site as well as on other social channels. Its an involved activity that needs skilled people. Since TLB has always offered editorial support to contributors, we would want to increase number of editors around the clock so that articles are not delayed. We also would like to improve the platform infrastructure with proprietary features. That would need a software team to work on new things besides site maintenance.  We have some bigger ideas too! For example our brand promotion program and commission free online store features that’ll let local businesses sell their products and services. However, making these improvements need investments and so far we’ve had none. We didn’t feel the need till now but evidently now we do and I am asking for your help.

The Local Brand® is an unique media platform that can influence a global community crucial to economy. We want to keep it free and independent so that individuals and businesses can share their ideas and enrich themselves through it. We realise the need to bring on investors who understand technology and online publishing. It is also important that they empathize with our audience and are willing to work with our core beliefs. I am reaching out to any experienced VCs out there who would like to invest in TLB. Recommendations and suggestions are welcome. Institutional investors are preferred. If anyone is looking to become a stakeholder in a 5 year old, organically grown, online media platform, then now is probably the best opportunity.
